Lenovo Malaysia has introduced its latest commercial computers that include desktops/workstations, a multi-mode, a tablet, as well as enterprise class servers and solutions. These devices and equipments have been tuned to deliver exceptional performance with emphasis on productivity, security and reliability.
ThinkStation P Series (P900, P700, and P500)
Making up the biggest portion of the launch pack were Lenovo’s range of workstation solutions for the office space. The P Series are packed with top-of-the-line CPUs and GPUs, are highly customisable, and can be configured to fit the budget of any organisation. All of these workstations feature the Intel Xeon E5 v3 family of processors (E5-1600 and E5-2600 series) and can be pre-installed with Windows 8.1, 8.1 Pro, 7 Professional 64 bit or even 7 Professional 32 bit. There are also a range of NVIDIA graphics cards (NVIDIA NVS 310, NVS 315, NVS 510, Quadro K420, Quadro K620, Quadro K2200, Quadro K4200, Quadro K5200, Quadro K6000, Tesla K20, and Tesla K40) to choose from, to suit the business needs. The ThinkStations come with 4 x USB 3.0 at the front, another 4 at the back, as well as an additional 4 x USB 2.0 ports at the back. There’s even an integrated 9-in-1 card reader which can also be upgraded to a 29-in-1 version.
The memory and storage configurations vary from one version to another, and this too determines the size and the power supply of the workstation. The P900 has 16 DIMM slots, and can run up to 14 storage drives at a time. The power supply driving this unit is rated at 1300 W with a 92% efficiency and the entire workstation has a dimension of 200 x 620 x 446 mm.
The slightly smaller P700 comes with 12 DIMM slots and is capable of running up to 12 drives at the same time. The unit comes with two power options, 650 W and 850 W, with both capable of running at 92% efficiency. All that will be contained in a 175 x 470 x 440 mm enclosure.
The P500 has the lowest configuration between the 3 and is also where the pricing starts for the P Series. The workstation has the same dimensions as the P700 but the power options go even lower; first option starts at 490 W at 90% efficiency and the second one is the same 650 W unit mentioned previously. P500 comes with 8 DIMM slots and is capable of running 11 drives at a time.
The P Series workstations have Flex modules (Flex Bay, Flex Tray, and Flex Connector) that allow users to customise the computers to match the their professions to deliver an enhanced user experience. The Lenovo ThinkStation P Series have a starting price of RM 3,300.
System x M5 Servers
The x M5 range is something that Lenovo inherited from its acquisition of IBM’s x86 server business. The series consists of rack and tower servers, dense systems, blades, and integrated systems. These servers are built for high performance, security, efficiency and reliability.
The servers have a starting price of RM15,246, and it’s clearly evident from the price that these are not the type you build as a hobby at home.
ThinkCentre Tiny-in-One 23
Lenovo is calling this the world’s first modular AIO desktop for business. The PC comes with a 23” Full HD (1920 x 1080) monitor and is designed to work with all current generation Tiny desktops. These Tiny units slot directly into the back of the monitor and offer a simple as well as a clutter free work environment. This design will also allow for businesses to upgrade either the display or the desktop separately. The monitors themselves come with front-side USB ports and the entire system gets its power from one single cord.
The Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny-in-One (TIO) 23 system has a starting price of RM 3,799.
ThinkPad Tablet 10
The ThinkPad Tablet 10 is Lenovo’s answer to an enterprise ready tablet. It comes with a 10.1” IPS Full HD (1920 x 1200) display that’s also Gorilla Glass protected. The device is powered by an Intel Atom Z3795 processor that includes Intel HD Graphics. It can be customised to run either the full Windows 8.1 Pro (32 bit) or Microsoft’s free (but only to system manufacturers) Windows 8.1 with Bing (64 bit). Memory (2 or 4 GB) and storage options (64 or 128 GB) are also available to customers. An 8 MP auto-focusing rear camera and a 2 MP front camera come standard.
The ThinkPad Tablet 10 can be used on its own or with either the optional ThinkPad Tablet Dock or ThinkPad 10 Ultrabook Keyboard. With the dock, users will be able to add an external display, mouse and even a bluetooth keyboard. The tablet can also be used with the optional ThinkPad 10 Digitizer Pen.
The price for the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 10 starts at RM 2,337.
ThinkPad Helix
The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix 2-in-1 Ultrabook is not entirely a new line. The previous version was announced at the beginning of last year and it has been long past its time for an upgrade. The new version is thinner, lighter and has packed in more features. The device is powered by an Intel Core M-5Y71 processor with Intel HD Graphics. It runs Windows 8.1 Pro, has an 256 GB SSD for storage and 4 GB of RAM. The new Helix also comes with a Digitizer Pen, a 5 MP rear camera, and a 2 MP front camera. For power, the tablet itself has a 35 Wh Li-Po battery while the dock comes with an additional 23.2 Wh Li-Po battery.
The ThinkPad Helix has a starting price of RM 6,000 and is actually RM 500 cheaper than the starting price of the previous version.
